Ines Recommends: Why I’m Wearing Ballet Flats With Pants Everywhere in 2026

I, Ines, fully believe that ballet flats with pants are one of the easiest — and smartest — styling choices for 2026. For a long time, we associated ballet flats mostly with dresses or ultra-feminine outfits, but now I see them styled with literally everything, especially pants. And honestly, this shift feels fresh, effortless, and very modern.

What I love most is how versatile this combination is. The street style scene has completely changed how we think about flats — they’re no longer delicate or predictable. Instead, they’re becoming a styling tool that can balance different aesthetics, from sporty to tailored.

One of my personal favorite ways to wear them is with socks. Yes — visible socks. Thick, textured, or colorful ones give the look intention instead of making it feel accidental. To me, it adds personality while also making ballet flats practical even in colder weather.

I also love the contrast between ballet flats and athleisure pieces. Pairing them with sweatpants, sporty jackets, or relaxed silhouettes creates that unexpected mix that feels very current — comfortable but still styled. It’s the kind of look that turns casual pieces into something fashion-forward without trying too hard.

Another version I personally recommend is ballet flats with leggings. I know this combo might sound very Tumblr or early-2010s at first, but when styled properly — think structured blazer or long coat — it feels polished and modern again. For me, it’s the perfect balance between office and everyday life.

If I want something timeless, I always go back to jeans, a trench coat, and ballet flats. This is my “I don’t know what to wear” formula because it instantly gives that effortless Parisian energy.

And finally, tailored trousers with ballet flats might be my ultimate recommendation. The softness of the shoes relaxes the structure of tailoring, creating a look that feels sophisticated but still easy and wearable.

My opinion: ballet flats with pants aren’t just a trend — they’re becoming a new styling language. If you want an outfit that looks intentional, chic, and comfortable at the same time, this is the combination I personally think will define everyday fashion in 2026.
