Kate Middleton - MY FASHION ICON

When it comes to her wardrobe, Kate Middleton has a tried-and-true formula for official engagements — from her Catherine Walker coat dresses to her elegant Alexander McQueen tailoring. However, during a recent visit to Castle Hill Academy in Croydon for Children’s Mental Health Week, the Princess of Wales showed she isn’t afraid to push her sartorial boundaries a little.

For the occasion, Kate wore a chocolate-brown blazer by Petar Petrov, paired with tonal belted trousers by Joseph and a light blue button-down shirt from With Nothing Underneath, with the sleeves casually rolled up.

Although brown has recently become a favorite color among royals, this particular combination — brown and blue — added freshness to Kate’s usual monochromatic palettes. The pairing has also been popular on autumn/winter 2026 runways, including Prada and Stella McCartney.

The most surprising element of the look? Instead of her signature nude heels, she chose a pair of chocolate-brown loafers from Boden, a style that is currently trending. In fact, this outfit may be one of the Princess’s most fashion-forward looks in recent times. While Kate Middleton typically leans toward wardrobe classics, this styling choice showed a more modern approach to royal dressing, achieved through just a few simple adjustments.
