These Are the Bags That Will Be Back in 2026

In the fashion world, what goes away always comes back — and that includes vintage bags that were big hits in past decades, which could enjoy a new life in 2026.

Recently, celebrities around the world seem to be gravitating toward less common designer pieces. While Rihanna and Tyla have revisited the early 2000s Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami collaboration, Bella Hadid has been seen with a City bag from Balenciaga, and PinkPantheress with a Spy from Fendi.

Reviving vintage bags isn’t a new idea, of course — designers love putting retro silhouettes and styles back on the runway. Have you seen the Celine Phantoms in Michael Rider’s Spring 2026 collection? Or the chic Executive totes from Chanel in Matthieu Blazy’s pre-Fall runway? Or Chloé’s recurring Paddington bag? It turns out the latest in bags… isn’t the latest at all.

This trend makes us wonder which past it models deserve another moment in the spotlight this year. With New York Fashion Week around the corner, that means we’re likely to see some accessories pulled from the past everywhere in street style.

Vintage Bags We’d Love to See Return in 2026

• Mulberry BayswaterA classic that keeps popping up in old street-style photos — a leather bag with gold hardware and a turn-lock closure.

• Marc Jacobs BlakeFirst introduced in the early 1980s, this has functional cargo-style pockets and comes in cheerful colors (especially light blue).

• Hermès Fourre-ToutA practical canvas tote that has been spotted in vintage shops and on young New Yorkers as a work bag — some want to see it in new color combinations.

• Celine Tote (Cabas / Phantom)After Celine brought back the Phantom in 2025, many hope to see more classics from the archive — especially ones roomy enough for a laptop.

• Roberta di Camerino Short-Handle Velvet BagsStructured silk-velvet bags in jewel tones from the late 1950s — mixing soft texture with bold colors.

• Calvin Klein FrameLate ’90s bags in shiny Spazzolato leather, a granny-chic favorite for some.

• Chanel Executive ToteA vintage Chanel tote spotted again on Matthieu Blazy’s runway — seen by editors as a potential investment piece.

• Paloma Picasso Book BagShaped like a hardcover book with embossing and a detachable strap, from the 1980s and ’90s — glamorous and intellectual.

• Celine Clasp Wallet-Style BagsClip-closure bags from spring 2017 that fashion editors argue should be part of any collection.

• Proenza Schouler PS1A favorite of the mid-2010s that many hope will have its moment again now that 2010s icons are trending back.

• Fendi, Kate Spade & Judith Leiber PiecesFrom Fendi’s Spy to vintage Kate Spade classics and tiny Swarovski-covered Judith Leiber novelty bags — playful and memorable designs that evoke childhood nostalgia.

• The Row Evening BagsTiny luxe night bags like the origami-style Ascot or velvet tassel clutches — precious, elegant little pieces that could return.
