This is the color that will take over your entire wardrobe in autumn 2026, according to New York Fashion Week

Eggplant purple returns in 2026 as one of the favorite shades for the upcoming season.
New York Fashion Week has come to an end, showcasing a wide range of proposals. However, when it comes to color, there seems to be a clear consensus among designers.

After all, when brands like Carolina Herrera and Tory Burch — perhaps the two most color-focused labels on the New York runways — emphasize the same shade, it’s worth paying attention. Both have highlighted eggplant purple as one of the strongest bets for autumn-winter 2026-2027.

Tory Burch paired the color with striking pieces such as funnel-neck coats and fitted belted dresses. At Carolina Herrera, creative director Wes Gordon presented several total looks featuring taffeta skirts with turtleneck knitwear, as well as tailored suits and sequin dresses finished with black bows.

They were not the only ones: eggplant purple also appeared at Zankov, Aknvas, and 7 for all Mankind. Dresses were a particularly popular format, ranging from asymmetrical silhouettes to textured combinations that add both playfulness and sophistication to any outfit.

Elsewhere, Prabal Gurung introduced the shade through trench coats that cinch the silhouette with a belt positioned lower on the leg, creating a mermaid-like effect. Bibhu Mohapatra translated the color into tailoring, encouraging investment in suits that move away from classic shades like black or gray. These designs featured slightly oversized patterns, with blazers fitted at the waist to emphasize the silhouette.
Eggplant sits between bluish and reddish undertones, sometimes leaning toward burgundy. Designers such as Marina Moscone and Michael Kors embraced it in full monochromatic looks, where everything — from boots to fur stoles draped over the arm — was rendered in this tone.
